QUALIFYING DATES
To compete in finals, you must qualify ONCE at one of the qualifiers below. There will be TWO qualifying dates for you to get into the FINALS. At each qualifying date, we need a MINIMUM amount of people to qualify to make sure we do have a FINALS.
FRI, FEB 07 – At FRIYAY! LATIN DANCE SOCIAL (we need at least 2 couples to qualify)
FRI, FEB 21 – At FRIYAY! LATIN DANCE SOCIAL (we need at least 2 couples to qualify)
RULES OF COMPETITION
QUALIFYING: Must sign-up in person at qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Competitors will qualify by dancing for the audience
QUALIFYING: Each couple/competitor will dance up to 30 seconds to show their skills
QUALIFYING: The songs will be selected by organizers
QUALIFYING: Once qualifying dates are done, no new contestant may enter
QUALIFYING: Competitor must qualify one time at any of the qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Once you qualify, then you must get ready for finals
MUSIC: For Finals, please submit your music in .MP3 format
MUSIC: You must provide your music via email 3 days prior finals
MUSIC: You can use any song you want as long as it is Bachata
MUSIC: Your showcase should be between 1min – 2min
MUSIC: Your entire showcase music must consist of 100% Bachata or you will get eliminated
MUSIC: No updates on music will be accepted 3 days prior finals
MUSIC: Bring your music in your PHONE just in case
FINALS: All competitors must be there no later than 11pm
FINALS: Competitors must be READY to go ON STAGE by 11pm that night
FINALS: Be present for hearing of rules, judging, scoring and presentation
FINALS: Be present for lottery of order of showcases
FINALS: Order of presentation will be determined by lottery
FINALS: There will be a 30 second warm up + presentation of competitors to the audience
FINALS: You will be judged by a panel of judges who will score each showcase
FINALS: Make sure you give a good show to the audience
FINALS: Proper attire must be worn and costumes are encouraged
FINALS: Competitors must dance Bachata to compete for at least 90% of the routine
FINALS: After you do your showcase do not leave or change for results
FINALS: All decisions are final
FINALS: Always have fun, enjoy it!
SCORING & JUDGING
The finals will be based on a 50 POINTS SCORE SYSTEM. We will have between 3-5 judges for finals.
TECHNIQUE = 10 POINTS (YOUR CHEMISTRY – HOW SHARP YOU ARE – HOW CLEAN YOU ARE)
MUSICALITY = 10 POINTS (HOW DID YOU EXPRESS THE MUSIC – WERE YOU ON TEMPO)
APPEARANCE = 10 POINTS (YOUR COSTUME – SELF PROJECTION – INTERACTION)
DIFFICULTY = 10 POINTS (YOUR FREESTYLE SHINES – YOUR COMBOS & CHOREOGRAPHY)
AUDIENCE RESPONSE = 10 POINTS (HOW WELL THE AUDIENCE RESPONDED TO YOUR PRESENTATION)
DIVISIONS
There will be TWO divisions for this competition. We need at least 3 couples/competitors per division for Finals to happen.
We may unite divisions if we do not have enough competitors in one division.
ADVANCED / OPEN DIVISION
PRE-REQUISITE: You must be 15 years of age or older
PRE-REQUISITE: Couple must consist of a male(lead) and female(follow)
PRE-REQUISITE: You can compete if you live Out of State

› $200 in cash if 3 competitors or more compete

› $050 in cash if 3 competitors or more compete
3rd PLACE
– Trophies + Cash
› $100 in cash if 7 competitors or more compete

DANCING RULES:
– Multiple spins = YES ALLOWED
(anything that requires 2 or more spins is considered multiple)
– Drops & Dips = YES ALLOWED
(any special move going towards the ground)
– Tricks = YES ALLOWED
(any special move without leaving the ground)
– Aerials & Lifts = YES ALLOWED
(meaning one person lifting the other one)
– Flips = YES ALLOWED
(any move that takes both feet off the ground while connected with partner)
AMATEUR DIVISION
PRE-REQUISITE: You must be 15 years of age or older
PRE-REQUISITE: You are living in the state of Utah
PRE-REQUISITE: You are not teaching or getting paid for dancing
PRE-REQUISITE: You never won this competition / level in the last year
PRE-REQUISITE: You never competed at Summit/Worlds/Ultimate/Salsanama before
