QUALIFYING DATES
To compete in finals, you must qualify ONCE at one of the qualifiers below. There will be TWO qualifying dates for you to get into the FINALS. At each qualifying date, we need a MINIMUM amount of couples to qualify to make sure we do have a FINALS.
FRI, AUG 21 – At FRIYAY! LATIN DANCE SOCIAL (we need at least 2 couples to qualify)
FRI, SEP 04 – At FRIYAY! LATIN DANCE SOCIAL (we need at least 2 couples to qualify)
RULES OF COMPETITION
QUALIFYING: Couples must be 15 years of age or older
QUALIFYING: Must sign-up in person at qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Couple must consist of a male(lead) and female(follow)
QUALIFYING: Competitors will qualify by dancing for the audience
QUALIFYING: Each couple/competitor will dance up to 30 seconds to show their skills
QUALIFYING: The songs will be selected by organizers
QUALIFYING: Once qualifying dates are done, no new contestant may enter
QUALIFYING: Competitor must qualify one time at any of the qualifying dates/locations
QUALIFYING: Once you qualify, then you must get ready for finals
MUSIC: For Finals, you will dance from the list below, so practice those songs
MUSIC: You will dance about 45sec – 1min
MUSIC: Your entire showcase music must consist of 100% Cumbia or you will get eliminated
FINALS: All competitors must be there no later than 11pm
FINALS: Competitors must be READY to go ON STAGE by 1130pm that night
FINALS: Be present for hearing of rules, judging, scoring and presentation
FINALS: Be present for lottery of order of showcases
FINALS: Order of presentation will be determined by lottery
FINALS: There will be a 30 second warm up + presentation of competitors to the audience
FINALS: You will be judged by a panel of judges who will score each showcase
FINALS: Make sure you give a good show to the audience
FINALS: Proper attire must be worn and costumes are encouraged
FINALS: Competitors must dance Cumbia to compete for at least 90% of the time
FINALS: After you do your showcase do not leave or change for results
FINALS: All decisions are final

SCORING & JUDGING
The finals will be based on a 50 POINTS SCORE SYSTEM. We will have between 3-5 judges for finals.
TECHNIQUE = 10 POINTS (YOUR CHEMISTRY – HOW SHARP YOU ARE – HOW CLEAN YOU ARE)
MUSICALITY = 10 POINTS (HOW DID YOU EXPRESS THE MUSIC – WERE YOU ON TEMPO)
APPEARANCE = 10 POINTS (YOUR COSTUME – SELF PROJECTION – INTERACTION)
DIFFICULTY = 10 POINTS (YOUR FREESTYLE SHINES – YOUR COMBOS & CHOREOGRAPHY)
AUDIENCE RESPONSE = 10 POINTS (HOW WELL THE AUDIENCE RESPONDED TO YOUR PRESENTATION)
