We have a very special social this Friday, one where we are going to see our locals dance and battle it out to find out who is this year’s winner of the BATTLE OF THE SEXES!
SCHEDULE
10:00PM – Doors open with Latin Dance Class
10:30PM – Social Dancing w DJ
11:30PM – BATTLE OF THE SEXES SHOW
12:00AM – Social Dancing w DJ
01:30AM – End of the night
COMPETITION FORMAT
– There will be two teams (WOMEN TEAM vs MEN TEAM)
– We will register up to 5 people per team
– If more than 5 people register, we will select the 5 competitors by lotto
– There will be total of 5 rounds
– Whichever team that wins 3 rounds out of the 5, wins the battle
ROUND 1 (ONE v ONE)
– Team will select TWO people to go for the first battle
– Coin toss will give a team to decide the GENRE (Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia/Chacha/Reggaeton)
– The team that lost Coin toss will decide who goes first
– Each competitor will dance battle SOLO 30seconds v 30seconds twice in the song
– A point to the team will be given to the winner of that round
ROUND 2 (ONE v ONE)
– Team will select the rest THREE people to go for the second battle
– Coin toss will give a team to decide the GENRE (Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia/Chacha/Reggaeton)
– The team that lost Coin toss will decide who goes first
– Each competitor will go to battle 30seconds v 30seconds three times in the song
– A point to the team will be given to the winner of that round
ROUND 3 (COUPLE v COUPLE)
– Each team will select two couples (4 people) to dance as couples
– Coin toss will give the team to decide style GENRE (Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia/Chacha/Reggaeton)
– The team that lost Coin toss will decide who goes first
– Each team will go to battle 30seconds v 30seconds twice in the song
– A point to the team will be given to the winner of that round
ROUND 4 (COUPLE v COUPLE) [if necessary]
– Each team will select two couples (4 people) to dance as couples
– Coin toss will give the team to decide style GENRE (Salsa/Bachata/Cumbia/Chacha/Reggaeton)
– Genre must be different than the previous round
– The team that lost Coin toss will decide who goes first
– Each team will go to battle 30seconds v 30seconds twice in the song
– A point to the team will be given to the winner of that round
ROUND 5 (COUPLE v COUPLE) [if necessary]
– Each team will select two couples (4 people) to dance as couples
